Research Integrity
In an age of increasing levels of cross-border, cross-sector and cross-disciplinary research collaborations, ALLEA takes a fresh look at the necessary safeguards to ensure the integrity of the scientific endeavour – both pre-emptively (educating aspiring researchers to respect a set of rules) and ex eventu (sanctioning and enforcing mechanisms). The national academies play an important role in safeguarding scientific integrity in national and international research environments. With reference to preliminary discussions in the context of UNESCO, OECD, and – in Europe – within ESF and with the European Commission, ALLEA is working towards a European Code of Conduct on Scientific Integrity.
