Office
ALLEA's Office, including the secretariat,
is hosted by one of the Member Academies and is financially supported by that
Academy, or by the country of that Academy. Presently, ALLEA's Office is hosted
by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, in Amsterdam, The
Netherlands.
The Office provides administrative support to ALLEA's
different bodies and acts as an intermediary between them. The Office manages
all communication and information on behalf of ALLEA and its
bodies.

Johannes J.F. Schroots
(1943), is Director of ALLEA and senior researcher in the field of
Lifespan Psychology and Gerontology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Master
degrees in 1969 and 1970, cum laude; Ph.D. in Social Science, 1979; Fellow of
the Andrew Norman Institute for Advanced Study in Gerontology, University of
Southern California, 1985/1986). Since 1989 he has been director of the
European Research Institute on Health and Aging (ERGO). Dr. Schroots' career
includes serving as project leader of EuGeron: EC concerted action on
Gerontology: Aging, Health and Competence, and as Council member of
EXCELSA/Pilot (Cross-European Longitudinal Study of Aging). Dr. Schroots has
published extensively in the area of Aging. He is (co)-editor of a number of
publications and fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.

Maarten G. Langemeijer
(1963) is executive Secretary of ALLEA. He received his Master degree in modern
history from Groningen University, The Netherlands. Mr. Langemeijer's career
includes the position of staff member at the department of International
Relations, University of Amsterdam, and at the Royal Netherlands Academy of
Arts and Sciences, respectively.
